Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
Since its inception in 1924, the Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (HSPCA) is one of the leading animal rescue and protection organizations in the United States. With its newly established Campus for All Animals, the HSPCA helps more nearly 45,000 animals each year, including cats and dogs; horses and farm animals, small pets, and native wildlife.
Tucker’s Story
The Explorers follows the story of Tucker, a stray terrier mix hit by a car and transported to HSPCA’s emergency triage unit. The video was part of a promotional series for the shelter’s annual gala, which raised nearly $1M to support services and operations. Spoiler alert: My husband and I adopted Tucker shortly after this video was produced.

VP of Communications and Advancement
I filled two critical roles while at that Houston SPCA. As director of communications, I helped reimagine the organization’s brand and managed the development of a new website that attracts more than 1 million visitors annually. I also oversaw all creative and acted as the liaison with the media for television and radio interviews.
As vice president of advancement, I managed a spectrum of fundraising efforts totaling more than $11 million annually. I also helped organize a $27 million capital campaign supporting, in part, the new 12-acre “Campus for All Animals,” which opened in 2018.
